| Tuesday January 5, 2010 5:48 PM I will say just to whet the appetite that one lesson learned for me is to be very wary of incorporating people into your core group with whom you've labored in other ministries. There is a tendency to create an expectation that you as the church planter will do things and have a philosophy similar to when you labored together in a church ministry. This can create all sorts of problems and hard feelings. |

| Saturday January 23, 2010 8:57 PM Not so much painful Mark, but a realization that if you're going to truly do something as new and fresh as God is calling you to do, then it means you have to be free from the encumbrance of the expectations of those who once partnered in ministry with you in a totally different environment and context. In truth, it's another example of avoiding putting new wine in old wineskins. |

| Sunday January 24, 2010 7:21 PM I see what you mean, Tim.
On our end, we're totally enjoying our new churchplant in Mississauga (west of Toronto). God seems to be moving in out midst. And there is a definite hunger in the people's hearts. :-)
It's funny that you mention new wineskins. I was just teaching on that at our last core group gathering. Exciting times indeed! |
